On 15th October 2021, founder Dr Rochelle Pierre and Consultant Geriatrician Dr Donna Walker were speakers at ‘Herstory’ event run by voyage youth in collaboration with New City College in Hackney. The event was attended by up to 50 young people. Dr Pierre and Dr Walker shared their journey into medicine and discussed particularly challenges they faced and are currently facing. The young people felt able to connect with the doctors as they too also grew up in Hackney. The aim of the event was to inspire young people and provide belief that they are able to achieve anything they put their minds to. Following the talks they young people were able to ask questions particularly regarding challenges. The feedback from the young people was great and many felt inspired and motivate to achieve their full potential.
