Black Health Education & Advocacy – Women’s, Men’s and Children’s Health

23rd August 2025 | JN Bank

BCDD and HEAL for Black People held Part 2 of our Health Education and Advocacy series at JN Bank in Brixton.

The event brought together members of the Black community across generations—women, children and men—to engage with health education, advocacy and meaningful action.

What the day looked like:
• Workshops, talks and community conversation.
• Focus areas spanned women’s health, children’s wellbeing, and men’s health concerns—each framed through the lens of equity, access, representation and culturally responsive care.
• Interactive elements: Health and wellbeing stations, Q&A sessions with clinicians and community-health advocates, networking.

Why it matters:
• Black communities continue to experience disparities in preventive care, early diagnosis and engagement with health services.
• Addressing the full lifecycle—from children to adults, women and men—is vital in building sustainable health equity.
• Empowering individuals and families with knowledge, tools and community support fosters self-agency and healthier outcomes.
