Dr Segn Nedd MSc, DLSHTM, MBBS, AKC, MRCPCH hails from Leeds. Her mother and father were born in Jamaica and Guyana respectively.
She received her Medical degree from Kings College London. Here, outside of her studies she helped to initiate and run the KCL Gospel Music Society. She still loves to sing when she gets the chance. Segn also has a Masters from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in the Control of Infectious Diseases.
Segn has a strong interest in medical education. She supports national paediatric education initiatives as a committee member of Royal Society of Medicine Paediatrics & Child Health section. She has delivered regional & national teaching and has contributed to international paediatric emergency training resources.
Segn is very proud of her Caribbean heritage and is passionate about supporting her community. Utilising her experience in medical education and previous work in mentorship, she is the Professional Development lead at BCDD. She has been establishing professional development workshops and is steering the mentorship programme.’ Segn has taken her passion and drive to see a more diverse and truly inclusive workforce to the forefront in her speciality. She is the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion representative for the Royal College Paediatrics & Child Health national trainees committee.
Segn is currently a senior Paediatric Registrar completing her Paediatric training with additional Subspeciality certification in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and aims to utilise all of her skills and experience to drive forwards paediatric emergency care, aiming to impact and influence improvements which can benefit children & young people here and abroad.
Despite all the work she does in medicine Segn is a wife and also a mother. Her family keep her grounded, give her balance and keep her young at heart.
